Update: Mike Matthews posted a link to Lego.Gizmodo.com (they mistakenly credited my blog for the photos, oh well) ~ Delaware Students Have Just Built World's Tallest Lego Tower. Plus, Mike's links to DDOE photos Red Clay LEGO tower
I was, well, Delaware Way was lucky enough to have floated a post last week announcing the Tower Fest and reposting the fantastic pictures of the lego tower Mike Matthews had grabbed from the Red Clay School District ~ Lego Tower Fest - Guinness World Record Project - Set For 5PM August 19th At John Dickinson High School.
That post and those photos drew many thousands of viewers to my blog over the course of the week. I got email requests from around the world for permission to reprint the photographs and with Matthews' help, got them in contact with RCSD's PR staffer.
As a follow up, State Rep. Kim Williams sent this along ~
Over a thousand people came out to Dickinson High School on August 19 and watched as the Red Clay School District attempted to break the world record for the tallest structure built with interlocking plastic bricks. The representative from the Guinness Book of World Records confirmed the record had been broken with the tower standing 112 feet, 11 and 3/4 inches. I was incredibly excited to ride in the lift and place the second to the last block on the tower! WSTW hosted this wonderful community event complete with delicious, homemade ice cream from the University of Delaware’s UDairy Creamery. And State Rep. Mike Ramone sent along photos plus a VIDEO ~
Congratulations to Red Clay School District students for setting a WORLD RECORD!Over the summer, students from each of the district's schools worked to build the tallest Lego Tower ever constructed. They broke the Guinness World Record, previously set at 107-feet, officially topping out at over 112-feet on Monday.
Senator Karen Peterson and Rep. Ramone stopped by the "Tower Fest" at John Dickinson High School Monday evening, when an official with the Guinness Book of World Records announced that Red Clay achieved its goal and set a world record. Congratulations to everyone who played a role in making this happen! We are proud of you, Red Clay!
