Got the email from the Governor's office today regarding my appointment to the task force formed as a result of Sen. Townsend's SB 147, the Charter/District Collaboration Task Force. Task force ends and recommendations have to be made by January 31. Looking forward to this. Will have to press the jacket and tie for this.

Thank you, Sen. Townsend. I'm proud that he said this is an OPEN committee. I've been appointed to this committee as a member, but these task force meetings are certainly public business and all can attend.

Bryan Townsend writes ~ Delaware's education system will not reach its full potential until we have an honest, open conversation about the role and demographics of Delaware charter schools--and we build bridges instead of walls between charters and districts.

Based on these values, I introduced Senate Bill 147, which created a "Committee for Promoting Charter-District Collaboration." The Committee will meet for the first time on Thursday, September 12, from 10am to 12pm at the Buena Vista Conference Center. I encourage anyone interested to attend this important part of the broader Education conversation, and to hold stakeholders accountable for improving education for all Delaware schoolchildren.

With some comment rescues ~ 

Paul Baumbach our bill, at http://legis.delaware.gov/.../SB+147/$file/legis.html... , calls for passing on transferable 'successes' from our state's publicly-funded charter schools to our traditional public schools. While this was part of the justification for our charter legislation 17 years ago, NOTHING has been done on this front. I, too, am looking forward to progress via this task force.
