Update: Comment rescue ~ Just sayin'.....
The whole county's been talking about the vicious explosion by Lisa Diller toward County Attorney Bernard Pepukayi during September 10th New Castle County Council's Finance Committee meeting.
"Councilwoman Lisa Diller responded by screaming at Pepukayi." -- couldn't get past this piece of information in the article -- if this is the type of person the Newark voters elect to represent them, then I guess they deserve all the issues that befall them. Such a shame that people who end up in leadership roles behave this way.
If you haven't yet heard it, it's a real humdinger of a dressing down that stands out even more in comparison with the even-toned responses of her 'victim' and the way the rest of council ostensibly ignores the diatribe (we can't see any rolling of the eyes that may have occurred).

People first read about her screaming at Pepukayi in (News Journal) Adam Taylor's September 12th story [NCCo Executive Tom Gordon excludes Council from Pike Creek appeal decision]. Some thought it was a racist attack because she's evidently screamed at half of Gordon's staff who are all minority - Norman Oliver called last week and asked me to send him a link to the audio - but I don't buy it. She yells at someone publicly at least once a year.
The first time I saw Lisa Diller in the verbal attack mode, I was the victim. She started yelling and throwing her notebooks and pencils across the room to end a meeting in the Newark Library where Chuck Mulholland and I had sat down with her and her aide when she was newly elected.
And I just got a copy of the letter Tom Gordon has written in protest of Diller's horrible outburst: "Though my staff maintains a professional, working relationship with most members of County Council, your actions reflect a troubling pattern of demeaning condescension from some Council members toward appointed members of my staff".
Gordon expects an apology from both Diller and presiding Council Finance Committee Chairman John Cartier who ignored the verbal barrage. Adam Taylor has posted about it on Delaware Dialogue HERE.
