New Castle County Regional Community Meetings Begin 6PM September 23rd In Hockessin

 

New Castle County to Hold Regional Community Meetings

County Executive Tom Gordon has directed the New Castle County Department of Public Safety and the Office of Community Governing to hold regional community meetings that discuss the County’s predictive policing, storm preparation, code enforcement and constituent services.

 

For the convenience of New Castle County citizens, five meetings have been scheduled throughout various parts of the County.  Civic groups and maintenance corporations, from each major area, may attend these regional meetings to learn about valuable governmental functions and services.

 

“We want people to know what resources are available to them in times of emergency or a crisis, not to mention the constituent services of which they can avail themselves,”  County Executive Gordon said. “We also want them to know how the New Castle County Police Division has used state-of-the-art technology to predict where crime would occur, thereby reducing, by double digits, the amount of crime in the County.”

 

County Executive Gordon, Director of Public Safety Joseph Bryant Jr. and Executive Assistant Bill Shahan, of the Office of Community Governing, are scheduled to give remarks at each meeting. County staff will also speak about the benefits of the County’s participation in the “Smart911” program, as well as civil penalties caused by code violations.

 

All meetings are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., and end at 8 p.m. The dates and locations are:

Monday, September 23 (West District), Hockessin PAL

Monday, September 30 (Central District South), Gillian Building, New Castle Gov. Center

Wednesday, October 2, (South District), Appoquinimink Activity Center

Thursday, October 3 ((Central District North), Garfield Park PAL

Wednesday, October 16 (North NCC), Talleyville Fire Co.

 

Regional Community District Boundaries are as follows:

North District

 

NORTH: DE-PA State line east from the Red Clay Creek to the Delaware River.

SOUTH: The northern Wilmington City limits west from the Delaware River to Lancaster Pike (Rt. 48) at DuPont Road. DuPont Road to Faulkland Road (Rt. 34), Faulkland Road (Rt. 34) west to Rt. 141. Rt. 141 north to Lancaster Pike (Rt. 48).

EAST: Delaware River south from the DE-PA State line to the northern Wilmington City limits.

WEST: Lancaster Pike (Rt. 48) west from Art 141 to Hercules Road, north to the intersection of Brackenville Road at Barley Mill Road, Barley Mill Road north to the Red Clay Creek, the Red Clay Creek north to the DE-PA State line.

 

Central District (north)

 

NORTH: Christina River east from Rt. 141 to the Wilmington City line & Southeast along the Wilmington City line to the Delaware River at the Port of Wilmington.

EAST: Delaware River south from the Port of Wilmington to Art 141 at the Delaware River & East: Rt. 141 south from Christina River to the Delaware River &  South of the Delaware River to the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

WEST: Rt. 141 south from the Christina River to the Delaware River & Rt. 1 south West from I-95, Rt. 1 south to Rt. 13 to the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

SOUTH: North side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal east from Rt.13 to the Delaware River.

 

Central District (south)

 

NORTH: I-95 east from the DE-MD State Line to Rt. 7 and Rt. 1.

EAST: Rt. 7 south from I-95 to Rt. 40 & EAST of Rt. 1 south from Rt. 40, Rt. 1 south to Rt. 13, Rt. 13 to the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

WEST: DE-MD State Line south from I-95 to Rt. 40 & West of DE-MD State Line south from Rt. 40 to the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.

SOUTH: The north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal east from the DE-MD State Line to Rt. 13.

 

West District

NORTH: The DE-PA State Line east from the DE-MD State Line.

SOUTH: I-95 from the DE-MD State Line northeast to Wilmington City Line.

EAST: The Wilmington City Line north from I-95 to the Elsmere City Line. The Elsmere City Line northwest to DuPont Road. The Elsmere City Line east to the Wilmington City Line. The Wilmington City Line north to Rt. 34, Rt. 34 west to Rt. 141, Rt. 141 north to Rt. 48, Rt. 48 north to the Red Clay Creek, the Red Clay Creek north to DE-PA State Line.

WEST: The DE-MD State Line from the DE-PA State Line south to I-95.

 

South District

 

NORTH: The north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal at Rt. 13, east to the Delaware River.

EAST: The Delaware River (from the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal to Duck Creek) & Rt. 13 East from the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal to Rt. 299 at Odessa.

WEST: Rt. 13 from the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal south to the New Castle County Line at Duck Creek & the DE-MD State Line West from the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal to Rt. 301.

SOUTH: The Kent County line (Duck Creek) east from the DE-MD State Line to the Delaware River
