- The News Journal headline you never thought you'd see ~
- Balloon boy, brothers perform in metal band tonight
Remember when the nation was transfixed on images of a gas balloon floating above Colorado in 2009 — a balloon that allegedly had a 6-year-old boy inside?
After the boy, Falcon Heene, was found alive and the whole thing was exposed as a hoax and publicity stunt, the boys’ parents, Richard and Mayumi, ended up with jail sentences and probation.
Well, the Heenes have their publicity machine up and running again.
Falcon, now 10, is the lead singer and bassist for a metal trio called the Heene Boyz, with his brothers Ryo, 12, on drums and Brad, 13, on guitar.
Richard Heene serves as the band’s manager, of course.
The Heene family will bring their bizarre back story (and criminal past) to Mojo Main (270 E. Main St., Newark) Thursday night at 8. The all-ages show costs $5 at the door.
Rising Sun, Md.-based Giants of Genesis and Dover’s Red Angel will open.

They are probably pretty decent musicians. I am thinking about going.
