Obama: End Unlawful Killings Using Drones or Other Weapons
Write the White House and demand that President Obama stop unlawful killings, whether through drone strikes or other weapons. These military strikes threaten the safety and aspirations of people on both the receiving end of American bombs, and of people in the United States. If the U.S. government suspects individuals of criminal activity, it should charge and try them in a court of law, not put them to death on the government's say-so.
This morning, in US District Court, the Center for Constitutional Rightsand the American Civil Liberties Union challenge the US government's attempt to avoid accountability about its kill program. The government says the killings are "political questions" and not subject to judicial review. If so, then the US President is claiming the right to serve as judge, jury and executioner. Was that what happened to 16-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Aulaqi, pictured here (center), who was born in Denver and killed in a US drone strike in Yemen in October 2011?
