Remember this Politico story? ~ Ben Carson apologizes to Johns Hopkins
Carson became a sensation in the conservative media earlier this year after giving a politically charged speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, which Obama attended. Conservative opinion leaders praised his speech and activists on the right have floated the prospect of a 2016 presidential run – a suggestion Carson has done little to defuse. But last week, in one of his many appearances on Fox News, Carson stepped on a political land mine when he compared homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia in explaining his opposition to gay marriage. In a Friday email to the Hopkins community – which a source shared with POLITICO – Carson apologized for having caused “any embarrassment” to the institutions he has been affiliated with. “As you know, I have been in the national news quite a bit recently and my 36 year association with Johns Hopkins has unfortunately dragged our institution into the spotlight as well. I am sorry for any embarrassment this has caused,” wrote Carson, who is the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. “But what really saddens me is that my poorly chosen words caused pain for some members of our community and for that I offer a most sincere and heartfelt apology.
Throwing red meat to the conservatives like that gets you invited to a lot of events.....(FSP) Doug Denison reports ~ Dr. Ben Carson to speak at Dover conservative fundraiser
The event will be hosted by the Combined Districts Victory PAC, organized a year ago with the goal of supporting conservative House and Senate candidates, and the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Delaware, a group founded earlier this year that describes itself as a “Christ-centered, multi-ethnic and Republican ministry.” The foundation’s national president is also scheduled to speak.
Last year the CDV PAC gave money to Republican House candidate Jeff Speigelman, who won, and Republican Senate candidate Scott Unruh, who didn’t win.Carson, famous for his groundbreaking career as a neurosurgeon, became a conservative media superstar in February for his keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, in which he criticized the Affordable Care Act, panned the concept of “political correctness” and touched on other conservative issues with the president seated a few feet away.
Area GOP can expect to hear Carson's latest gloom and doom ~ Dr. Ben Carson: 'This Is the Beginning of the Collapse' of Obamacare
Delaying implementation of key parts of the healthcare law and losing the support of labor unions are just the beginning of trouble for Obamacare, says Dr. Ben Carson.
"It's gonna be a lot worse than this. This is the beginning of the collapse," the retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon said on Fox News Channel's "Your World" on Tuesday.
"Usually when you roll out a big program, you roll it out bit by bit. You determine what's working. You can change things," Carson said. "But to try to roll out something this massive without really knowing what the intricacies are is quite foolish."
