Chip Flowers has published this statement on facebook and on the News Journal comments section ~

Official Statement Issued by Delaware State Treasurer Chip Flowers issued on October 27, 2013 – “I am deeply disappointed at the inaccurate reporting of The News Journal regarding my Treasury trip to Alaska for the National Association of State Treasurer’s (NAST) Annual Conference in today’s newspaper. The News Journal had information showing that this trip was not paid by taxpayer dollars (it was paid by NAST) and the hotel rooms were assigned by NAST (all state treasurers received junior suites and staff received regular rooms). No taxpayer funds were used for the conference or the remaining days that were used for business meetings. Further, while The News Journal found it appropriate to print my breakfast selections, they failed to mention that I had a breakfast meeting on that date and the order was for two (2) individuals. To save funds, I paid for many meals during the trip personally and I do not regret my desire to save taxpayer funds. While The News Journal may imply there is conflict among government officials, this is not the case and all matters relating to the former Deputy State Treasurer are subject to the state’s personnel and privacy laws and are being handled by the appropriate agencies. I, along with other concerned public officials, have requested a meeting with the publisher of The News Journal to discuss this troubling reporting pattern of omitting material facts and information by our state’s largest newspaper. I am very proud of serving the People of the State of Delaware, particularly increasing our state portfolio by over $30 million over the past three years, and I will not allow constant misrepresentations of facts to deter me from my desire to serve the public (regardless of whether such misrepresentations appear every Sunday in The News Journal).”

I'm laughing so hard. Serious now, we are talking about bacon and coffee. We have to find jobs, we have to stop crime, we have to build this economy. Someone is out to get Chip Flowers. Chip I think you are the chairperson of the black caucus. Where are they at on speaking up for you? This is crazy... Breakfast.. LOL .. This is getting stupid.. Also I'm not sure where this is going besides the national enquire, but you are single. I just can't stop laughing. Is this really a story. STOP.... :-) I will be speaking on this..

If NAST paid for everything why was it charged on the State Credit Card. If NAST reimbursed Delaware for those expenses how about showing the records of Delaware billing NAST and NAST paying.
