Senator Chris Coons sent this along ~
How long has it been since Congress really focused on jobs?
There are still more than 11 million unemployed Americans, but Congress has been consumed by crisis after crisis this year. It’s no way to govern.America’s manufacturers have started growing again, and Congress should be investing in that growth and helping them create jobs in our communities. I’m working with my colleagues to rally bipartisan support for legislation that would help get our factories running again. It’s time for Congress to focus on commonsense legislation like this. We need to send a clear message to Washington: stop manufacturing crises and start manufacturing jobs.Manufacturing jobs are a win for everyone. They pay more than jobs in other industries and they have the added benefit of creating more jobs in local service economies, as well. That’s good news for the 11 million Americans still looking for work. For every dollar in manufacturing sales, another $1.34 is added to the economy. That means that investments in manufacturing have an incredible impact on the entire economy—more so than in any other sector. That’s why my colleagues and I are working to get Congress focused on what matters. There’s no shortage of good ideas, but we need to cut through the gridlock now if we’re going to make a real difference in our economy. Thanks for standing with us to make a difference in our economy.
