Update: ruh roh, the promised report is not on Council's Monday night agenda.....AND there is yet another reason Mayor Funk may have resigned early - his kid and namesake is applying for the open deputy Alderman position.y Plus, Kavips has a great new post ~ In Newark DE, Every Day Will Be A White Christmas, Downwind That Is
Jonathan Starkey gets the news out: DE DEMs get Paul Begala for keynote speaker at Monday night's Jefferson Jackson Dinner - (tickets still available at deldems.org).
This will be my first-ever Jeff-Jack DE event. My friends tell me all the action happens during the social hour from 6-7.
That's good because I'll have to leave for the 7PM Newark City Council meeting where we're promised a report that confirms or denies suspicions that the city manager and department heads worked with UD to sell us down the river. In creating massive loopholes in the UD's STAR campus zoning code and electric purchase contract, the school can quickly move to purchase TDC power once it's operational.
Such a move would be to our great detriment. Newark's loss of that UD-sourced revenue would gut city services and/or spike residential and commercial property taxes and utility rates.
Also, the Residents Against the Power Plant are meeting again at 6PM October 30th in the Newark Co-op Meadow (entrance on the left side of the building near the Fusion Fitness Center). Come on out!
