Mary Crowley sent this along ~
Thanks for staying engaged in the fight for social and economic justice here in Delaware. Below, you’ll find an update on events and actions that we’ll be focused on during the month of October and a summary of last month’s meeting. Our upcoming actions align with the two Focus Issues identified by membership at our first meeting, including (1) eliminating the New Jim Crow (racial disparities in our corrections system and their socioeconomic impact), and (2) an ongoing commitment to tax fairness and economic justice.
At September’s general body meeting, we hosted speakers from Dismantling the New Jim Crow, a Wilmington-based coalition dedicated to eliminating racial bias in our justice system. To learn more, consider attending:
1. Forum on Race and The Criminal Justice System, presented by Dismantling the New Jim Crow and a panel of African American judges, moderated by Joshua Martin, former Delaware Superior Court Justice2pm, Sunday November 10First Unitarian Church: 730 Halstead Rd, Wilmington DE 19803
We also elected an executive board:
The new board met at 8:30pm on Sunday, October 6 and set an agenda for October’s Chapter Meeting. At October’s meeting, we will spend the last portion of the meeting breaking into working groups that focus on either (1) Dismantling the New Jim Crow or (2) Tax Fairness and economic justice.
We will meet again for our October general body meeting on Wednesday October 23rd at 7pm at the George Wilson Center:
303 New London Road; Newark, DE 19711 Please attend our last action for the month of October:
