PLEASE CONSIDER VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT!

Because the election is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the City Secretary is encouraging all eligible voters to consider voting early by absentee ballot. The ballot request forms are available online and can be printed and filled out at home and mailed to City Hall for verification well ahead of time - the sooner the better. Absentee ballots may also be filled out in person at City Hall where they will be notorized. Check the information below for details.
Voter Registration - City Elections
City residents register only once for all local, state, and federal elections, which is done through the office of New Castle County Board of Elections. Residents may submit their voter registration application to the City Secretary’s office, which will forward it on to the New Castle County Board of Elections for final approval.· You must be at least 18 years old by Election Day.
· You must be a U.S. citizen.
· You must have established residency in the city for at least 24 days prior to the election.Elections
City elections are held on the second Tuesday in April. Special elections may also be held periodically to fill vacancies in the mayor or council member positions. City residents register only once for all local, state, and federal elections.

You can request to have an absentee ballot be sent to your home. To request an absentee ballot for city elections, fill out this form and send to the City Secretary's Office at:City of Newark

Newark, DE 19711You may stop by the office between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, where you may vote in person and have your ballot notarized.
Absentee ballot affidavits may be submitted at any time preceding an election. However, final absentee ballots will not be mailed out until the candidate filing deadline for the election has passed. All absentee ballots must be returned to the City Secretary’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day of the election.
